UPDATE: Cousin Gil is home from the hospital. Bullets grazed his head and shoulder, but mercifully he was spared. Deo Gratias. Thanks to everyone for their prayers. Let us pray for those whose loved ones will never come home. Share

I don't understand why anyone needs the most minute details, not to even mention audio or visuals. Are we truly that voyeuristic, or are we that easily amused or manipulated? People go ballistic every day, and although most are able to resist so that no one is grievously wounded from it, we know why they blow.
It's not only because it is principalities we are dealing with, working with the assist of weak wills, but it's because the secular but lucrative culture of life-is-cheap offers the young especially too little hope. (And yes, it's because even negative attention is attention to someone who wants it. And the NEXT shooter will look at all the media attention and be gravely impressed. We have this illusion of the media as some positive good we need. It's not, and we don't.
There is a spirit of death deeply rooted here, now, we have employed it steadily since Enola Gay, or perhaps even before when we abducted and enslaved a people. Or perhaps even before, when we stole natives' lands and livelihoods. We fan the life-is-cheap fire by abortion, but also by stocking our soup kitchens with highchairs instead of creating jobs, curbing government spending on limb-reattaching surgeries it caused, and offering affordable housing.
Life is cheap. Hence, we don't do body counts, as the General says. And now that the shooter-of-the-day is known to be "a legal alien," what more harm will come from satan's having found such a soft foothold in our nation?
What's long overdue is a vote of no confidence for the deadly Administration that has soaked the earth in blood with its paid shooters. What's even longer overdue is mercy. Mercy, hope, and charity. One finds all 3 under Christ's banner, not under Caesar's. It's time to love one another as He loved us, a Commandment this nation plasters over with "Tread not on me" flags.
Love, and peace,
Carol
Excellent points, Carol. I think too much focus on evil brings the evil into our own minds and hearts. I refuse to watch replay of the video over and over again and the news is not on at our house at all.
This whole wrangle about guns is ridiculous. This boy wanted to kill and would use whatever was available. Which could have been much worst if he had car bombed the place or used dynamite.
These psychotic drugs don't make troubled people able to function in normal society, it just makes them manageable in a controlled environment. Mainstreaming sick people is a very bad idea. Why did the University not send him home, when he did not participate in classes or even put his name on his papers? Normal children are flunked when they do not perform up to academic standards. These universities are factories churning out one student after the other. How did he become a senior?

re the good news: Thanks be to God.

Are we not seeing not merely the breakdown of individuals but also of communities? The practice of "I'm just a functionary" with ties to the person I "function" on only within the "function setting" and not outside needs to end.
When I worked in a private school setting for disturbed children even off color language was not tolerated, One of the young male teachers asked why such an issue was made of it. The Director answered that everything starts small and grows....if that sort of language is tolerated than behavior in general will begin to deteriote. Our society opened the Pandora's Box by looking the other way at young people's salacious activities over the past 30 years. We are now reaping the harvest of evil that it has produced. Yes, "evil", a word that if one used one was looked upon as some kind of religious fanatic......
