When children are removed from life....

Coffee Wife in the Orkney Isles tells it like it is...again. I remember reading how one of the goals of the original Communists was to get both the father and the mother out of the home and children into daycare. Whittaker Chambers, the former Communist spy, discusses this in his memoir Witness. The Party back in the thirties discouraged marriage, encouraged "living together," as well as masculine dress for women. Chambers records his pure joy when his girlfriend returned from the abortionist, telling him that she had changed her mind; she wanted to keep the baby. They got married and had a family. It was the love and awe inspired by Chambers' children that eventually led to his belief in God and pulled him out of Communism.

Author Helen Andelin said back in the seventies that many women were leaving home and going to work then because they chose to do so, but the day would come when they would have no choice. That day has come. Many women who work now do so out of economic necessity, not from choice. It can require great sacrifice and courage to raise a family on one income. There are many material things and pleasures that one must learn to do without. It is worth it in the long run, however. Share

Hooray for faithful female Catholic bloggers!

It's food for my soul to see such incredible comittment to what really matters in life. Thank God, for women with such courage, depth of loving devotion, and noble principles.

Thanks, Warren. I think it is the role of Catholic women to walk with Our Lady and lead everyone back to the Garden of Eden.

That's what the feminists just DON'T get: women already *are* powerful - powerful in the *right* way, through God (that's the key...) whilst living in humble and loving imitation of Our Lady. Basically feminisim tried to re-invent the wheel. But they missed the mark by a long shot. And NOW look at the world!!

(I'm not writing about me - I'm still working on that humble holy in imitation of Mary part...but I'm doing my best!)

Yes, Coffee Wife, I totally agree. "The hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world." What could be more powerful than molding the next generation. To be a mother is to have the future in your hands....Women of the past KNEW that; they were not taken in by illusions.

Mrs. Andelin was prophetic. Unless your husband is a CEO, it is nearly impossible (where we live) to buy a home on one income.

Housing prices are now based off of the assumption that people have two incomes and that children (if any) are in daycare or public school.

Men's wages have not kept up with housing prices....feminism has hurt women who want to stay home with their children.

Home ownership is becoming only for the 'elite' DINKs. (Dual Incomes, No Kids). Neighborhoods are now full of trophy homes devoid of children, laughter, families.....frightening.

Very frightening, and sad....

If a woman has the ability and is drawn to being an MD or PHD or JD than she should be able to use her talents and brains and not be criticized for it....but from my observations she still bears the main burden of seeing to the home and children which drains her physically and emotionally.
