Jardinière Zodiaque

From the Louvre, the planter adorned with the astrological signs belonged to the Duchesse d'Angoulême, daughter of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette. It was created in 1819 by l'Ecole Royale des Arts et Métiers de Châlons. It is made from mahogany with gilded bronze. It should be remembered that in past times astrology was used in gardening, even by the most devout people, including monks and nuns. Via Baron Théodore Charlet. Share
