I thought ten thousand swords must have leaped from their scabbards, to avenge even a look which threatened her with insult. Here is an article from Triumphant Baroque about Emperor Franz Joseph, the "longsuffering." The Emperor of Austria-Hungary, he lost his beloved wife Empress Elizabeth to assassination and his only son to suicide. He was a great, great grand-nephew of Marie-Antoinette. Share
