Jan. 6 Footage Demolishes Claims of Insurrection

I saw several short videos of the Capitol police acting as tour guides to the crowd on January 6, 2021 within days of the so-called "insurrection." I do not know why this is suddenly news to so much of the world. We also knew, within a week of the fiasco, that the only person killed was a Trump supporter named Ashli Babbit. From The Blaze:

On Monday night's episode of his show on the Fox News Channel, conservative commentator Tucker Carlson aired some of the surveillance footage from the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has granted Carlson access to the video. Carlson noted during his show on Monday that producers had enjoyed "unfettered access" to the surveillance footage. While media outlets, Democrats, and some Republicans have described the events of Jan. 6 as an "insurrection," Carlson asserted that the footage "demolishes that claim." (Read more.)

From Newsmax:

The footage released through House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., from the Jan. 6, 2021, protests at the U.S. Capitol appeared to contrast the narrative presented by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi's select committee that investigated the events on that day. For example, the newly released footage shown Monday night by Fox News host Tucker Carlson showed two Capitol Police officers escorting "QAnon Shaman" Jacob Chansley past other police officers and to the door of the U.S. Senate. Carlson suggested the footage raises questions as to the possible complicity of some officers in the attack.

Musk early Tuesday morning responded to a tweet that criticized the Jan. 6 committee for lying. He blasted the lawmakers for withholding evidence for "partisan political reasons," and directed his reply to committee members Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and former Reps. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., and Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill.

"Besides misleading the public," Musk tweeted, "they withheld evidence for partisan political reasons that sent people to prison for far more serious crimes than they committed.

"That is deeply wrong, legally and morally."

McCarthy released footage that Democrats had withheld, citing "security concerns."

"I was asked in the press about these tapes, and I said they do belong to the American public," McCarthy told The New York Times on Feb. 22. "I think sunshine lets everybody make their own judgment." (Read more.)

From The New York Post:

Newly revealed surveillance footage from Jan. 6, 2021, shows two Capitol Police officers escorting Jacob Chansley, the behorned so-called “QAnon Shaman” who has come to symbolize the riot, through the halls of the Capitol and to the very door of the US Senate.

The footage aired on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show Monday night shows the officers closely following Chansley as he wanders the corridors of the Capitol, bare-chested and wearing face paint and a luxuriant fur hat with Viking horns.

“Virtually every moment of his time inside the Capitol was caught on tape,” says Carlson, who was granted exclusive access by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to 40,000 hours of surveillance footage from that day inside and around the Capitol, which has never been seen before by the public.

“The tapes show the Capitol Police never stopped Jacob Chansley. They helped him. They acted as his tour guides.” (Read more.)

From American Greatness:

As reported by Just The News, the footage aired on Monday as part of the beginning of Tucker Carlson’s exclusive investigation into the events of that day, after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) decided to hand over all 41,000 hours of surveillance footage to Carlson’s show on Fox News.

In the footage, Jacob Chansely, who came to be known as “The QAnon Shaman” due to his unusual outfit consisting of fur clothing, red-white-and-blue face paint, and a viking-like horned helmet, can be seen walking peacefully through the Capitol after entering the building. He never once committed an act of violence, and was in fact escorted by multiple Capitol Police officers during the entirety of his time inside the building. Despite at one point being surrounded by at least nine officers, not one officer made any attempt to subdue him or lead him out of the building.

“The tapes show the Capitol police never stopped Jacob Chansley. They helped him. They acted as his tour guides,” Carlson narrated. The host even noted that, at one point in footage filmed by another protester, Chansley led a prayer in the Senate chamber thanking God for the Capitol Police officers and praising their efforts that day.

As Chansley himself noted in a subsequent interview, he genuinely did not think that he or any of the other protesters were committing a crime specifically because the officers had allowed them into the building and were guiding them through.

“The one very serious regret that I have [is] believing that when we were waved in by police officers that it was acceptable,” said Chansley.

Due to his bizarre clothing, Chansley became one of the most recognizable protesters from that day. As a result, prosecutors demanded that he be given the maximum sentence of 51 months in prison. Despite the far-left judge admitting that Chansley did not commit any violence, he still ultimately gave Chansley a steep sentence of 41 months not because of his actions, but purely because he came to symbolize the protests.

“What you did was terrible. You made yourself the epitome of the riot,”said U.S. District Court Judge Royce Lamberth in his sentencing, before then proceeding to admit that Chansley “didn’t slug anybody.”

“But what you did here was actually obstruct the functioning of the whole government,” Lamberth falsely claimed, calling it “a serious crime.”

Monday’s episode of Carlson’s show is the first part of what is expected to be a multi-episode series, with each episode focusing on multiple aspects of the January 6th protests that the mainstream media and the January 6th Committee lied to the public about. In the same episode, Carlson showed footage that debunked mainstream narratives about other aspects of January 6th, including lies about Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) “running away” from the protesters, as well as the truth about Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, who was seen continuing to usher protesters into the building even after the timestamp at which Democrats claim he had been murdered by Trump supporters.
