"Pope Benedict XVI faces uproar among liberal Catholics amid signs that he is trying to turn back the clock on an era of modernisation and reform."

Modernism and reform?? Who are they kidding? More like abuse and sacralige!! It kills me that these liberal "Catholics" think so MUCH of themselves! Modernism and reform. Give me a break!!

They forgot the other side of the story:

"Pope Benedict XVI faces ecstatic and overwhelming support among the majority of Catholics, amid signs that he is trying to turn back the tide of an era of abuses and sacrilege . . ."

You know, until this month, I never understood the phrase "new springtime!" :P

Yes, I feel like I'm in Narnia and the 100 years of winter is ending at last. (You know, that movie had almost prophetic timing....)

While I'm on the subject:

This is also the first time in my life I really understood what schadenfreude means. ;)

I hope it's not too bad of me! :P

Oh, I think after all we have been through with liturgical abuses, heresies, and scandals, for most of our lives, we can gloat a little.

Be careful not to gloat too quick. Not trying to be a kill joy, but what if your priest refuses to say mass in latin? You appeal to the Bishop, who also refuses. It goes to Rome for adjudication. You'll be dead before it is ever righted. It took 37 years to get this far. I know in the time of the Church it is a twinkle but... I only last a twinkle.

Only answer is, vote with your feet.

Very true, nothing will change over night. I don't expect it to change much at all around here, at least not for a decade. It took 40 years for the church to get into this mess. But maybe now our children and grandchildren will have reverent liturgies.....

That would be sweet. I am afraid I will be always a bit bitter over having not had latin for 40 years.

It has been a bitter cross for many Catholics to bear.
