Reflected in the crystallized surface of an icy pond, birches point toward the sunrise, a reminder that the garden’s verdure is merely sleeping beneath winter’s blanket. This season holds immense beauty for the many garden rooms at Morton Hall Gardens, each of which is set like a stage awaiting its players. When owners Anne and René Olivieri purchased the 90-acre private estate in 2007, they immediately fell in love with the grounds. They renovated the Georgian-style house, taking care to maintain its historical integrity by returning its interiors to their original eighteenth-century nature, but even more efforts were focused on the gardens outside.
