When lending her talents to a project, Marsha recognizes that the dwelling must suit its dwellers. “A space that is not livable serves no purpose, no matter how beautiful it is,” she says. The designer considers carefully how each room will function—factoring in clients’ stage of life and way of life—to satisfy unique priorities. In her own quarters, where hospitality is prized, slipcovers give a polished appearance to Chippendale chairs but allow for easy cleaning.
