Beyond a Dream

“When in the Cotswolds, I realized that I would love to live in a charming stone cottage with a steep slate roof—and that was that!” the former teacher explains. After she retired in 2001, Bonnie asked a friend, architect J. Patrick Sheehy, to design a house more in tune with her revamped vision. Though the slate roof and stone façade would have to wait, the resulting structure offered a cozy spot for Bonnie and her mother, who had recently moved in with her daughter. A few years later, thanks to a generous bequeathal from a cherished friend, she was able to add the missing details to her dream abode, as well as to assist four young people with aspirations for higher education—a largess that would have pleased her benefactor immensely.
