Exploring Petit Trianon

In the next room, the boudoir, the ceiling became very low, as in a true country house. Roses were carved everywhere, entwined with ribbons, doves, quivers, and lyres. The Queen's gilded initials appeared here and there, bordered on each side by two torches, symbolizing the flame of love. ~ from Trianon by Elena Maria Vidal
