Trump's national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, described the move as an "assault on the Christian faith," stating that the day should be reserved for the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Leavitt's comments reflect the outrage expressed by some Christian groups and individuals over the Biden administration's decision. The controversy follows the White House's decision to ban religious egg designs in its Easter Art Event, a move that has also been criticized by some Christian groups. The art contest is part of the White House's Easter traditions, which include the annual Easter Egg Roll.
