Oh, what a revolution....Little did I dream that I should have lived to see such disasters fall upon her, in a nation of gallant men, in a nation of men of honor and of cavaliers! I thought ten thousand swords must have leaped from their scabbards, to avenge even a look which threatened her with insult. People often ask what became of Marie-Antoinette's wedding gown. It no longer exists and was probably made into a set of church vestments as were many gowns of that quality. However, to see something similar one only has to look at the wedding dress of the Protestant princess Edwige Elizabeth Charlotte Holstein-Gottorp, future Queen of Sweden, as shown on Lauren's blog. It is still in existence and was recently on display at Versailles.
