A horrible job. Horrendous heat, bugs, and cut fingers. My grandfather grew cotton in Alabama and that was the reason all his sons moved to the city and never became farmers. Cotton and Tobacco were the main reasons for this country getting enmeshed in slavery. No one wanted to pick the stuff.
