The Return of the King, 1814

The Arrival of King Louis XVIII of France in Calais in 1814

The people of Calais board the ship to greet the true Royal Family of France. The white armbands, gowns and cockades are in honor of the returning Bourbons. The daughter of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette sits beside her uncle the King. The Restoration begins.
