Chesapeake Bay watermen are iconic figures who grapple with the natural and man made challenges of making a living from the Bay at all seasons of the year. Larry Simns believes watermen don’t give up because they are basically optimists. “We wouldn’t venture out every morning in the cold if we didn’t think the day was going to be profitable—or at least special,” he said.
