The Queen's Thistle Brooch

With her pearl and diamond earrings and her three-stranded pearl necklace, HM wore a thistle brooch made of diamonds, gold, emeralds, and a carved amethyst. She’s been wearing the brooch in public, usually for engagements in Scotland, for at least a decade. Some have guessed that it might be part of the suite of national symbol brooches gifted to the Queen by the late Sultan of Oman to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee, though her Three Thistle Brooch has also been reported to be the Scottish portion of that quartet.
