At the Assembly Ball
With the focus so often being on the ladies' gowns, it is interesting to find an article about how the gentlemen were supposed to dress. I have long found the Regency period to be of interest since it coincides with some of the early chapters in the novel Madame Royale.

Courteous comments are welcome. If a comment is not published, it may be due to a technical error. At any rate, do not take offense; it is nothing personal. Slanderous comments will not be published. Anonymity may be tolerated, but politeness is required.
I would like to respond to every comment but my schedule renders it impossible to do so. Please know that I appreciate those who take the time to share their thoughts.
I have always felt when viewing films, art, etc. of men's style of dress during this period that all the neck wrappings looked extremely uncomfortable, as well as the tight trousers. (I have read that much of the neck wrapping, which later evolved into ties, was to eliminate any odors that might emmanate from below the neck area.)
