Make them work for their money; don't just give them hand-outs. (Via
LRC) In our family, we always had little chores and were encouraged to find jobs with trusted neighbors. I started babysitting when I was thirteen but before that I received an allowance on the basis of having performed certain regular household chores. It made me appreciate the fact that money does not grow on trees.
