A Martyr for Peace

Franz Jägerstätter, the German Catholic layman who resisted Nazism, will be beatified in October. He was a Franciscan tertiary. Here is an article about him from Taki's site.

The Western Confucian compares him with Blessed Charles of Austria. He says:


There seem to be remarkable similarities between this Austrian peasant and the Austrian emperor beatified three years ago, Blessed Charles of Austria. Both men were dedicated to peace and to performing the solemn duties of their station in the horrific circumstances they both faced.
