I think there are some interesting parallels between Alexandra and Marie Antoinette. Both were reviled as foreign enemies and blamed for all the troubles of the nation - although Alexandra was much more involved in politics and her meddling was quite detrimental at times. Both were seen as being the "real" power behind the throne instead of their supposedly weak husbands.
