It was written for cloistered nuns and not everything is applicable to the lives of lay people, and certainly not to married people. But much of it is applicable to everybody....each must use discernment.....elena maria vidalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17129629173535139807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534539169157708222.post-81080567348254430252007-10-12T11:08:00.000-04:002007-10-12T11:08:00.000-04:00This may seem trifling and insignificant, and I re...This may seem trifling and insignificant, and I realize that one should use their own common sense when reading a list of maxims for the religious life lived by cloistered nuns.

However....

The maxim that mentions not doing anything in private that can't be seen in public....Well, what about bathing, bathroom needs....and for us married people....

?

I'm sorry. They encapsulate everything one needs to achieve a Godly life, (besides the all important thing of all, which is communing with Jesus.) Elena, I know you are well aware of these since I got them from you.....

"Detach your heart from all things. Seek God and you will find Him. Accustom yourself continually to make many acts of love for they enkindle and melt the soul. Be gentle to all and stern with yourself. Remember that you have only one soul...that you have only one death to die... that you have only one life, which is short and has to be lived by you alone, and that there is only one glory which is eternal. If you do this there will be many things about which you care nothing. Let your desire be to see God; your fear that you may lose Him, your sorrow that you are not having fruition of Him, your joy that He can bring you to Himself. Thus you will live in great peace. Consider how quickly people change and how little one can count on them, and so cling closely to God Who never changes."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534539169157708222.post-2714306113901199562007-10-10T12:55:00.000-04:002007-10-10T12:55:00.000-04:00You just have to love St Teresa of Avila!
