Murillo is another great one. I love his Madonnas. Wouldn't I enjoy going to the Prado. When I went to Spain, I never made it past the Costa Brava.elena maria vidalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17129629173535139807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534539169157708222.post-76807380245393517982008-11-14T11:49:00.000-05:002008-11-14T11:49:00.000-05:00I also love Las Meninas....and the detail that Vel...I also love Las Meninas....and the detail that Velasquez is wearing the cross of Santiago (St. James) on his own chest. But his crucifixion is my all time favorite image of the crucifixion. I've had the wonder of seeing it full size (man size) in the Prado.

Goya and Velasquez are wonderful masters, but do not overlook Zurburan--very evocative painting.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534539169157708222.post-53228382210708894132008-11-14T02:43:00.000-05:002008-11-14T02:43:00.000-05:00Velázquez, El Greco, and Goya are probably my thre...Velázquez, El Greco, and Goya are probably my three favorite painters.Iosue Andreas Sartoriushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17888802647534998598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534539169157708222.post-40648657557597968082008-11-13T10:13:00.000-05:002008-11-13T10:13:00.000-05:00Velázquez has been one of my favorite artists sinc...Velázquez has been one of my favorite artists since I was in seventh or eighth grade~his paintings are more than paintings, they are each an experience of another time and place.elena maria vidalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17129629173535139807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534539169157708222.post-13438382419919086522008-11-13T09:52:00.000-05:002008-11-13T09:52:00.000-05:00The Spanish Hapsburg line was with the exception I...The Spanish Hapsburg line was with the exception I think of this beauty a rather unhandsome lot.

This is one of my favorite paintings.

I am especially interested in the attendant to the Infanta's right.

Fortunately we have a painter who painted what he saw, as did Goya.

I shudder to think how how Monet would have painted them.Brantignyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01609397972340635441noreply@blogger.com
