Being a member of the Catholic or universal Church means having to think beyond the American way of doing things. This can be hard for some people.elena maria vidalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17129629173535139807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534539169157708222.post-82401800893322113312009-05-17T22:22:00.000-04:002009-05-17T22:22:00.000-04:00Thanks, everyone. Thanks, everyone.elena maria vidalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17129629173535139807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534539169157708222.post-3240542882054269802009-05-17T22:21:00.000-04:002009-05-17T22:21:00.000-04:00Terry, the only way that the two situations would ...Terry, the only way that the two situations would be comparable would be if there was some long tie between Notre Dame and the U.S Presidency. But since every year a different notable speaks, it is not quite the same as the Vatican making the French head of state an honorary canon at St. John Lateran. The latter is to honor the centuries old connection between the Church and the Eldest Daughter of the Church. It is not honoring Sarkozy in himself.

I think that it is highly inappropriate for an institution which is supposedly dedicated to Catholic education to invite a politician to speak who is pro-choice and give him an honorary degree.elena maria vidalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17129629173535139807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534539169157708222.post-79897260490582775542009-05-10T17:24:00.000-04:002009-05-10T17:24:00.000-04:00I just posted a link to this entry on my blog afte...I just posted a link to this entry on my blog after coming across yours.
