Colm Tóibín: A Writer's Battle

From The Telegraph:
After a walk I’ll do some writing. I write in longhand, which is easy in a way because you just find the notebook you were last working on and see if you can add something to it. But writing is always a battle against your own laziness. I have a very beautiful sofa that I can lie full-length on, thinking I’m going to read but actually falling asleep. I really have to do 500 words before I can do the sofa or I wake up feeling very guilty. (Read more.)
