At the Assembly Ball

With the focus so often being on the ladies' gowns, it is interesting to find an article about how the gentlemen were supposed to dress. I have long found the Regency period to be of interest since it coincides with some of the early chapters in the novel Madame Royale. Share

I have always felt when viewing films, art, etc. of men's style of dress during this period that all the neck wrappings looked extremely uncomfortable, as well as the tight trousers. (I have read that much of the neck wrapping, which later evolved into ties, was to eliminate any odors that might emmanate from below the neck area.)
