New Zealand Style

Kooky Winter 2009

In the short time I was in New Zealand I was struck by the level of creativity which seems to flow from the truly unique combination of cultures. Many Americans might not be aware that New Zealand has its own fashion industry and string of designers. If I ever go back it will be with an extra empty suitcase to bring back some finds. They are going into winter now, so all the new winter fashions are on display.

Hi Elena,
Did you find there is a big difference with North American fashion?

Hi, Lucy,

Overall there was no difference but when I saw stylishly dressed women the Kiwis definitely have their own distinct flair. It was tailored yet flowing. And they do interesting things with vintage patterns. They are not afraid of mixing textures and use lots of earth tones.

I enjoy your posts on fashion.
I wish American women would resume wearing hats. They look fabulous, in my opinion.

Yes, Susan, a hat sort of completes the outfit. Glad you enjoy the posts on fashion; I'll have to do more!
