What an interesting article! Thanks for sharing. I was surprised to read that it was the film that propelled the show into the fame it enjoys today. From my observation, once a Broadway show becomes immensely popular THEN a film is made. So this information was interesting to me, as well as the rest of the commentary from important people who were connected to the creation of the show, one of my favorites for 50 years, I must add. P.S. I had the original Broadway album....never bought the album of the movie version.

As a tribute to the Broadway show, the National Symphony Orchestia (NSO) played a suite of the songs from the musical during their televised July 4 concert on PBS.
