The Bombing of Nagasaki

Nagasaki was not originally the primary target. An eye-opening and disturbing article, which tells how the Catholic Cathedral in Nagasaki came to be at the epicenter of the blast. Share

The responsorial psalm for today's feast reads;

"The mountains melt like wax before the Lord..."

don't believe everything you read...

meaning, of course, that it makes it sound like a complete conspiracy against Catholics...

Not at all, Frank, but as the article says, the pilot was looking through the clouds for his target. He saw the spires of the Cathedral and dropped the bomb. I have read of this elsewhere, too. In the cathedral were small children preparing for their first Holy Communion. The Japanese Catholics saw themselves as an offering for peace. The articles Lew Rockwell provides are very reliable, historically.

Yes, Terry, and in this case it was people who melted like wax.

Put that way it sounds better. I just understood the article in a different way.

Thanks !
